DRESS CODE

"Together we dance"

Now that you have decided which dance class your child is going to take, you must now prepare them to dress the part.

Why is dress code important in dance?

Proper dance attire enables the teacher to see the dancers' positions and movement in order to give necessary corrections for the benefit of the dancer's education. A dress code also teaches self discipline and unity within the group class environment, which is important in an art as demanding as dance.

A dance dress code is an important part of the structure of a dance studio and the study of dance. The proper attire will help each dancer and teacher to see that each muscle is being worked correctly, and that proper form is being executed.

AT NO TIME ARE JEANS / CUT OFF JEAN SHORTS / OR PARTY DRESSES PERMITTED.

The right shoe selection is more important than one might think. We work our feet, which is why it is critical that we carefully consider our footwear choices. The right dance shoe should be snug-fitting, more so than a regular street shoe, to ensure long lasting support once the shoes stretch out.

If you are unsure of the fit of your dance shoes or clothing, please ask one of your instructors or an assistant at your local dance store.

Dance Bag & Accessories

For practical purposes, having a bag to carry your dance items is essential for keeping the items organized, but can also add an element of fun to the dance experience. Dancers love to show off that they dance and there are so many fun ways to do this. The dance bag can be embellished with charms, embroidered with the name of the dance studio or the dancer’s name etc. Hair clips, key chains, travel mugs, jewelry, and so many other items can also provide you with a keepsake to show the world that you love to dance!

Tip: If you are just starting out with dance it might be a good idea to opt for inexpensive or even second hand dance wear. Because the dance wear is generally tight fitting, children grow out of it very quickly, which means you can find second hand items in excellent condition, with very little wear.
