CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Think OutSide Of The Box
This class is a favorite among many of our students.
Everyone loves the opportunity to explore the new ways to move their bodies creating new phrases to speak the language of physical art.
Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet or jazz.
Contemporary dancers focus on floor work, using gravity to pull them down to the floor and recovering back up from the floor. Dancers learn the difference between soft, sharp, light, heavy, slow, fast, release, spiral, flow and so much more movements that incorporate every part of their bodies. Dancers in this class also focus very much on floor work, discovering shoulder stands, rolls, swings, sweepings, landings and more making the floor their dance partner.
This dance genre is often done in bare feet or socks. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music and promotes your inner emotions and creativity.
